Hi, Tyler! Happy Friday! This is a very dynamic action shot. Nicely composed and exposed. To my eye, it seems a touch flat, so maybe a little contrast and maybe a touch of saturation to give it a little more 'pop' might be the ticket. It looks, to me, like the lighthouse has a slight pitch to the right could be illusory though. Anyway, all in all, you got the timing of a great shot here. Have a great weekend. Cheers! Chris

Thanks for the comments! This is actually a very old picture I just decided to post. I shot a ton of compositions like this and need to go back and edit them now that I know more (although not nearly enough) about processing. As I recall, the original was very bland with regards to color and tones--maybe I could help improve that more now (this shot was edited 6 months ago). Chris...about the lighthouse...that is not an illusion, it REALLY is leaning! They just built the stairs up to it last week to begin stabilization and restoration (see www.savethelight.org if you're interested). If you look at some of the other photos I have of it, especially "White Caps" you can tell the horizon is straight as an arrow and the lighthouse definitely leans. It is much more pronounced as you zoom in more...it was very astute of you to catch it in this shot. Thanks again for the comments--it seems that people find this shot very original so I'll have to go back to this series and try to re-edit some of the better shots and maybe even try to get back out and shoot some when the tides are right.

PS--I think the tones and contrast turn out better in the B&W version I added to the same folder. If anyone has any thoughts I'd love to hear them!

Call me Crazy, Doc, but, frankly I like the color version better. I'm tellin' you with a little punch up this shot has got it. I, personally, think the monotone version is really flat. I gotta come visit you and have you show me around this wonderful town! Cheers! Chris

Chris--Thanks for your comments. I see what you're saying but I'm just not sure I'm skilled enough at the computer to bestow the "pop" onto this shot. In general, I like color better but I guess I turn things B&W when the post-processing task overpowers my post-processing skill! If I shoot you a JPEG via email (or RAW file if you want) would you be kind enough to show me a bit of what you have in mind? I definitely would not want you to spend more than 2 or 3 minutes on it though...you have done far more than your fair share to help me over the last year already! By the way, I would LOVE to have you come visit Charleston anytime you want..it would be my pleasure to show you ever shooting spot I've found. So, if you are thinking of heading this way, just let me know! Thanks again for all the thoughts and help!
