shadetothetrade 0 Posted June 30, 2007 In the thumbnail I thought this was an insect... This really shows why we should enlarge photo's to see the depth and details. Once again... A very good shot Doug! Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted July 8, 2007 Doug, I like the diagonal lines in this composition, for me, the only way to go here. Unless it was your intention (some 'details' might be helpful) the brightness range was just too high to record details throughout. (some blown highlights in the logs on my screen) Very contrasty light. Gotta love the deep blue of the reflected sky though. If this were mine & I had ready access to the site, I'd be going back under a variety of lighting conditions. My bet is there are a lot of interesting shots to be made of this same subject. Great mirror reflection of the nearest log. Best, LM. Link to comment
snapshooter 0 Posted July 10, 2007 Thanks Joseph, B, Len, for your comments. Always appreciated. Len. I know what you're saying, and believe me, I tried everything to produce more detail in those logs. It was already extremely contrasty lighting and they were literally bleached white on top. I did isolate the logs and selectively reduced the contrast and gamma as far as I could before the image just began deteriorating. And yes, I am fairly close to this site and have been back a number of times. Never this calm, so far. I need a bright overcast for the logs, absolutely no wind, but I'll never get those same reflections with soft overcast light. I don't give up easy though, so hang in there. I may come up with something eventually. Link to comment
