The mood, the expressiveness, and the emotion of this photograph are unquestionable and beautiful. The way the eyes glance toward the light is wonderful, as is the peaceful expression. The lighting, the background, even that strong wooden(?) bar in the upper left corner is a good compositional element. Technically, could have used a better exposure, in my opinion. In a case like this, I would have exposed a bit more for the hot light and brought back in photoshop the darker shadows that would have resulted. It seems like you tried to fix a hot spot on the nose but that's kind of standing out to me. The rest of the bright light is blowing out, not so terribly, but a slight exposure adjustment would have allowed all the skin and material detail to be read. I mention the technical aspects only because they would better support what is already a really wonderful esthetic here. The face and mood you've got down about as well as it's going to get.

Thanks Fred, I can't believe you spotted that adjustment on the nose, I didn't think anyone would notice, I'll never question your eye again LOL. I agree on the highlights, My window of opportunity was small so I was fumbling with dials as fast as I could, the patience of a 2yr-old is fleeting. Thanks again for the comments, you know they are always welcome.

One of the biggest thrills of photography and also the hardest part is that there is never enought time!

I reposted this shot without the nose adjustment, and I tried to recover as much of the highlights as I could. Everything else is the same.

Do you have photoshop? The newer versions have shadow/highlights. I did a very quick highlight adjustment and there is a bit more detail than you extracted. Still, the exposure is the thing but wondered what you thought of this. --Fred

That is a LOT more than I got, I do have photoshop, and I was working off a RAW file in adobe camera raw, I used the highlight recovery. You would think they would get the same results being the same program, especially since you worked off of a shrunk down jpeg. Curious.
