Something about this bugs me but I simply can't seem to identify what

it is (other than the picture being plain boring maybe ;). Suggestions

Very good composition and light! I would've cropped a bit from the lower part of the image, but that's just me. Regards, Mihai.

I really like the way the shadows of the stairs are cast upon the wall. I also like the overall composition of the image. The thing that bothers me most is the detail lost along the bottom right and edge of the photograph. Maybe a smaller aperture and a tad bit longer exposure would bring some of that detail out from the dark.

Very dramatic shadows , good!

I can imagine a person walking on it or in the foreground.

@ Mihai & James: I think your comments both point to the same thing really, but with different suggestions on how to fix something that doesn't work here. The lack of detail in the dark bits does mean that you can't really tell what the building with the shadows on the wall is standing on, so there is no real connection between the foreground and the background. If I ever make it back to Montreal, I'll give it another try with a different arperture ;)
