The contrast between the fire of the flower and the icy background is quite effective. I also like the hint of blue retained in the center. Beautiful and striking.

What a beautiful composition! I love the deep rich colors...warm contrasting with the cooler bg. You've retained lovely detail in the petals. Very appealing image. Nicely done.

I fell in to a burning ring of fire/

I went down,down,down/

and the flames went higher./

And it burns,burns,burns/

t he ring of fire/

the ring of fire./

Johnny Cash, "The Ring of Fire".

As a representation of the Cash lyrics, the image is very original and creative.

However, I did not know there were lyrics to the picture until I scrolled down and had already had an impression of the image. As an image I found it less than what you are capable of. As a picture, I would prefer to see more detail in the center without losing the wonderful texture in the petals.

After reading the lyrics to that great song, it is befitting for the center to be very dark to represent the black hole in which one goes down when entering a ring of fire.

Yes, you nailed it. Your critique was waay more useful to me than if you had simply rated it high and walked away. You are right. This is far from my best. It was shot at a flower market using a handheld heavy Sigma 70-300 mm lens. Because of the low light, it had to be shot at a very slow speed, which made sharpness a challenge. Yet, I like the image, and maybe I'll reshoot it in a controlled environment. Emmanuel.

Yeah but Emanuel, creativity is taking something and seeing more than what it is and if my damn monitor was bigger and I could have seen the title along with the picture, I would have looked at it as a titled piece of art such as a painting.

If you want to re-shoot it as a flower, fine. As a ring of fire, it would be tough to get closer unless you photographed a camp fire but then that would merely be a photograph of a fire.

Check your e-mail for a message I sent.
