aepelbacher 0 Posted June 18, 2007 I got me a P&S digital! :-) And ... it's not too bad. Anyway - I haven't stopped daydreaming about the road less traveled. But I'm also daydreaming about ... ICE CREAM!! And this shot (and a few others that I might post) were inspired by Linda McClellan last year some time ... Linda and her Snoballs! Yummmmm.... Carl's has some of the best ice cream in Virginia. Delicious!! Anyway - how does this shot compare with shots taken with an SLR? What do you think? Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted June 18, 2007 Lou Ann, hey there, you road-warrior, you! How's it goin'? Dang, you're a bad influence, now I got a hankering for ice cream...This turned out very well. I wish the powerlines weren't there, but heck, we wouldn't have ice cream without electricity! Looks like the P&S does just fine. Really goes to show you that is the eye in the viewfinder and the finger depressing the shutter that really makes all of the difference. Keep us posted on your travels, triumphs, and tribulations! Be safe! Cheers! Chris Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted June 18, 2007 Thanks, Chris - I'm not "on the road" yet ... that will be mid-August. I have a trip to Africa in July ... probably won't have much ice cream there. :-) I, too, was bothered by the power lines. But I was actually much more bothered by the transformer (?) behind the "C" in "Carl's". I would have gladly removed all of the power lines ... but the pole and transformer would still be there and would have given me away. So I left it all in. Go - have your ice cream. :-) Link to comment
johnz 0 Posted June 22, 2007 Lou Ann: When I first saw this picture I thought it was a really great shot of middle Americana -- I was bothered by the utility pole and after reading the comment from Chris and yourself realized you all felt the same. Might be worth doing a litte P.S. or even take a look at B&W. In any case, nice work. Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted June 22, 2007 love it! makes me want to revisit some of those snoball stands...as for the power lines, it would be prettier without them, but less real Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted June 22, 2007 Yummmm! I'll take a scoop of Superman and a scoop of Butter Pecan, please! :) I have a thought about those power lines. Have you tried to shoot this at night? Since the sign is Neon, it would be lit but the sky would be dark and you wouldn't see the lines or the pole. Just a thought. Oh, and the P&S seems to be just fine...I wouldn't have known if you hadn't mentioned it. :) Leslie Link to comment
susan stone 0 Posted June 23, 2007 Make mine chocolate......and Leslie had a great idea to shoot this in the dark. I know you're a busy gal right now, hope you have a great adventure in Africa and then it's home to pack again. I don't even mind the power lines in this comp as they're a part of the "story", it is after all a building in suburbia with all it's modern inventions. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 11, 2007 Well-spotted, nicely captured. I like signs, the more color, the better. This one stands out well against the light blue sky. Good shot. Link to comment
