pimgeertsfotografie 0 Posted June 22, 2007 Hi, I took this shot at a gig of With Ice in Nijmegen. I only had a 85mm/1.8 with me, so the crop was rather rigid. Luckily the light helped me to create this silhouette. What do you think of it? Comments are highly appreciated! Thanks, Pim Link to comment
apergament 0 Posted June 22, 2007 Hi Pim... I think you did a nice job with the photo, but a wider angle really would have brought more light to the photo... I think it would really accent the intensity of the musician. Maybe a bit shorter shutter speed would have worked too in showing some of the motion (though limited of course by camera-shake and the like). I'd also like to see a bit more light on the hair and his fingers, and keep the darkness the way it is. It also would have been great to see some detail in the lower left hand corner, like the back of the ?keyboard? Anyway, you did a good job with the limitation you had... I know how hard it is to get concert shots. Cheers. Alex. Link to comment
perole 0 Posted June 22, 2007 I like the close crop here, Pim. I also like the mono colours and the intensity in the hands and the hair. It looks like some editing artefacts around his hair, just to the left over his right hand? Link to comment
pimgeertsfotografie 0 Posted June 23, 2007 Thanks a lot for your constructive comment! Reading your text, I was like: "Yeah, he's right, shit he's right, mmm right..." I wish I shot this in RAW, then there would've perhaps been some detail left in the hands. This one of the few which did't have any disturbing motion-blur (cam-shake). Due to the very dim-light-situation, I was forced to go down to 1/40sec, which is not much for a 85 non-IS lens. Thanks again! Pim Link to comment
pimgeertsfotografie 0 Posted June 23, 2007 Hi Per, Thank you too for the critique. I think the editing-effect must be camera-noise because there wasn't much editing except for Levels/curves/desaturisation. Bye! Pim Link to comment
