sarahkane 0 Posted June 10, 2007 Wow, The light mist, and different levels in the background are beautiful, as well as the tiny highlights in each of the waves... Truly beautiful Hanna, well done~ ~S~ Link to comment
marielou_dhumez 1 Posted June 10, 2007 So soft (and sharp) gorgeous seascape in a not too much contrasty picture ! love it ! Link to comment
rogerleekam 0 Posted June 10, 2007 Beautiful and very subtle image. Interesting idea to go b&w. Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted June 10, 2007 everyone above is right! I would add praise for the placement of the horizon line, just below center, and the placement of the light (the nautical light, not the natural light). But, speaking of the natural light, there's a nice tension between the sheen on the waves and the bright clouds, both of which are light, and then the dark figure of the nautical light. hanna_cowpe 0 Posted June 11, 2007 Thankyou all for your generous comments. After chasing through Australia and England for remarkable coastal shots, it seems the one captured on home ground is the most rewarding. Link to comment
mike_stemberg 40 Posted June 12, 2007 Wow! the smooth shades captured and portrayed in the sky. Quite outstanding! Hanna, I have a 'but' though, .. there seems to be a line in the water at the level of the base of the light tower, below which the smoothness of the sky above contrasts too much (IHMO) with the 'sharpness' in the foreground. Great stuff otherwise! Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted June 13, 2007 Thanks Mike. I think I see what you're saying but I don't see it as too much of a problem and I think cropping the top would place the horizon dead center. Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted June 13, 2007 I like very much the background. Pity there is nothing in the foreground (a boat for example). Link to comment
jim craig 0 Posted June 13, 2007 I like this image as is, nothing else required, a pleasant, almost minimalist landscape if you will. It was a good choice to convert it to B&W as I suspect it wouldn't have the same appeal in color especially with all the highlights on the water. Nice detail captured in the distant falling rain and the layers of the Olympic Mountains. It is a scene I drive or walk by almost daily, I suspect the line near the marker buoy mentioned by another poster is the tide rip line. Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted June 18, 2007 Hanna, I wouldn't change a thing...I love simple yet elegant shots like this. I especially love the light and fog separating the layers of mountain in the background. Very nice. Leslie Link to comment
