maria 7 Posted June 5, 2007 This commerce school was built 1909-1910. It is an example ofrationalist architecture before World War I. The volume is partitionedassymmetrically, with two tower-shaped blocks, which close betweenthem the classes and the gathering rooms. The pinnacles give thebuilding space and authority. The influence of German brickconstructions is visible in the 'columns' of the facade. Theverticality is emphasized, and this has a Gothic effect. The flatornaments over the entrances remind popular art, but they are reducedto geometric reliefs and so the building belongs to pre-Modernism. Link to comment
