using a diffusor to get a softer light

Deserves two wows! One for the flower and the other for the dragonfly!

Diffusion makes all the difference.I see other scores that are higher for macros with harsh lighting,too much contrast, this says a lot about the judges in here. I guess you have to do this kind of photography to appreciate it.
