samrat 1 Posted June 10, 2007 This was shot during a visit to 221B Baker Street. As far as I remember, there was a window to the right of the lamp through which light was streaming in and I had to underexpose quite a bit to bring out the glow from the lamp. Thank you for your comments. Link to comment

sergey-afanasyev 0 Posted January 30, 2008 Hi, Samrat. I flicked through your portfolio once again. That was for no particular reason. I'd say it was just for fun. Out of the blue this photo caught my eye. I'm not sure that I can express myself clear enough in english (honestly it's not my native language). However i do not like short expressions like "good work" or "nice shot". What i see on this photo is a harmony. At the first look It seems that all things are in a chaos. Nevertheless the shot would be not completed without even one little vessel depicted here. The balb fulfills the overall photo's atmosphere with a perfect warm light that makes it cosy. The laboratory looks vintage. The black book 1884 and the head in the bottom left corner cover this photo with a mystery of alchemy. After all i would like to say that this work impresses and encourages me. Well done, Samrat. Link to comment
samrat 1 Posted January 30, 2008 I know I have not had much to offer lately and it was nice of you to go through my portfolio once again. And you have been excessively kind as ever. I wonder at times that people have posted good comments on several of my photos, however, I have not used a DSLR to shoot them. The Panasonic DMC FZ5 is a good camera in it's own right and I wonder would the photos appear several times better if I shot them with a DSLR. This is the laboratory of Sherlock Holmes, set up as per description in the stories about him, at 221B Baker Street. I am a huge fan of this character and it was a great moment when I visited the museum. It was odd...I knew there is nothing real about all of this, yet, there was this persisting feeling of awe.
