I like the tonal range of the image, but I would consider cropping so the lion isn't directly in the middle. Also, the dust and debris in the top 1/3 is quite distracting.

 

Just some thoughts...and they're free..so take them as intended. Cheers!

Thanks for the comments. I will follow through on the composition. Regarding the dust in the upper part, unfortunately this is a slide which was scanned and I should have been more careful...Thanks for bringing this deficiency to my attention...Bert

Here's a quick edit of what I had in mind. Some might suggest too much open space now on the left. I guess that's what makes this whole process interesting.

 

Killed most of the dust quickly in LR.

 

Again, nice shot.

I think the same than Eric Fournier, the crop is better than the original image.

Love the contrasting colours in this image!
