My second thought is that I'd like to see a wider shot to help emphisize the size of the child. Doesn't matter that much though because my first and third thoughts are that this is just too cute! ~Anthony

Thanks Anthony! She was about 1 1/2 then and that is a 6' fence, with a loud barking dog behind it that shortly after had her running away!

I was going for the "baby butt crack" shot and the pull-up got in the way!

I thought this was an ad for the Future Plumbers of America....a great membership drive...Although it would be nice to see her size in relation to the fence...I would have been happy too...getting a shot like this one! was this shot in B&W or color ?? The color image would be fun to see as well...Mucho Kudos...!Juan

Adorable shot and great idea. The obvious cleverness of catching her like this does not go unnoticed. Neither, of course, do the drooping drawers, the wonderful crouch, and the light seen through the slats in the fence. This is not just cute, it's also a really good photo, because of light, texture, lines, and composition. Most of all, it's got heart.

Thanks Juan, it was a color shot and if I had the time, energy, blah, blah, blah...I would go searching! Thanks again. J

Janis, this is just precious! I love it for so many reasons...the others echoed my thoughts so well. B&W is perfect ...it keeps with the timelessness of theme of the curiosity and innocence of children. You've captured a wonderful moment. Way to go! :)

been said, but this is such a great image that I had to congratulate you anyways! Very sweet shot, and I think this crop may work better than a large fence shot, as we know how small the child is, and her world is shrunk down to her size at the moment (as it often is with children- it pretty much is just what is right around them at the moment!) This gives the viewer a real sense of immediacy, and we wonder what it is that is so interesting to her at the moment. Everything needed is containd within this tight crop, and I think it is better that we adults get down there with her to see the excitement! Really very lovely, and the bw is the perfect thing for this timeless image. Thanks for sharing it with us, as it really makes the end of this day pleasant!

Hi Janis,

Really great shot. I am reluctant to say anything critical since there is so much good about this photo, but I too think a wider crop might have been better. Still, very good!

I love this shot--kids are always great subjects. The crop is fine and the B/W says this photo may have come from just about anytime-but then the pull-up kind of dates it. Oh well, great shot anyway. Thanks for the look and the nice comment you left on my photo. BTW, your portfolio is terrific.

Playful, humorous, cute, original and artistically creative. How can one not fall in love with this?

Incredibly sweet capture. You've caught the glory of a 2 year-old discovering her world--the mystery of peeking through fence-cracks, hiding under blankets, and learning how the world works and what's in it. Wonderful.
