billfoster 0 Posted June 2, 2007 Taken from a balcony looking over the main tank at the new Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. There is some noise in this JPEG but the original is noise free. Surprisingly, this tank is so huge and lit that I could shoot at about ISO 600 or so (no tripods allowed and flash was useless). I waited a LONG time and took a LOT of shots to get that nurse shark in the right place. And, then, of course, the people weren't as interesting as they had been previously ... Link to comment
giuseppe_miriello1 0 Posted June 2, 2007 despite being a quite ordinary view while visiting an aquarium, this image is particulary well realized to me... i expecially like the way you framed all human figures, they are almos completely visible to their feet, probably this is as down as you could go before hitting the bottom black wall... this way the image is really expressing the deep interplay between water fauna and humans. lbattjes 0 Posted June 2, 2007 Bill, nice shot from the aquarium...it's a fun place to see. We really enjoyed our visit there. I think the silhouettes of the people are great and the way you've got it cropped makes it look like they're in the tank. Only nitpick is that it's a whale shark, not a nurse shark! :) By the way, did you get any good shots of the Belugas in their tank? I was fascinated by them and took a ton...I haven't posted any, but I may at some point. Leslie Link to comment
billfoster 0 Posted June 2, 2007 Ciao Giuseppe. Grazie per il suo complimenti. You are right about going down further, although the main problem was the 500 other people you would have seen if I had moved it. Thanks Leslie! You are right about the shark, of course. I couldn't remember and went back and forth. I'll leave my error there for the PN world to see. The belugas were tough. It was darker and there were a lot more people and not as good a vantage point. I have a couple that are OK but nothing that I felt was special. They were beautiful to watch though. I liked the aquarium a lot, but I thought it was WAY too entertainment orientated and corporate. There was nothing really too read (although the guides were informative); even the gift shop didn't sell books. But, it's still spectacular. Link to comment
