jonathancharlesphoto 0 Posted June 8, 2007 This is a spontaneous scene I noticed when staying at a wonderful old house in France. Unlike the usual "still Life" the objects are lined up from foreground to background creating a series of different scales as well as the interesting range of shapes, colours and textures. It also acts as a kind of close-up portrait of the character of the place - ancient but vibrantly alive.Comments and crits are welcome. rina 0 Posted June 22, 2007 Jonathan, I think you captured the ambiance of this room very well. But I think without the candle in the foreground the composition would be more balanced. Link to comment
jonathancharlesphoto 0 Posted July 2, 2007 Thank you all for your interest and comments. For Hanna & Rina: I understand your view but the foreground candle is an important part of the composition-in-depth, though I kept it marginal (and incomplete) to avoid it dominating the scene while making it near-enough in focus to appreciate the nice texture of the pewter candlestick.
