martinstott 0 Posted May 28, 2007 the noise of four merlins under full throttle at such close range can not be adequatly put in words. suffice it to say that it was an experiance that will stay with me for years. Link to comment
geoffs1 0 Posted May 28, 2007 Great framing and composition. Too bad the weather was so gray. The colors are flat. Have you consider it in B/W? P.S. I have a soft spot for Lancs. One of my uncles helped restore the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum's plane. Link to comment
k5083 1 Posted May 28, 2007 Martin, I think the problem is not so much with the weather as with the fact that the appearance of the aircraft from this angle is not "true" to the Lancaster in the sense of emphasizing its distinctive features. Also I am a little bothered by the green reflections in the fuselage although I recognize that these are likely accurate renditions of the grass beside the runway reflecting off the skin. Perhaps darkening the black-painted parts of the aircraft to near black would help with both issues. It happens that I got my first look at a Lancaster on takeoff a few days ago (the Canadian one) and I sure understand what you felt and are trying to say with this image. I am not sure this is the image that does it though. Then again, I shot about 80 pics of the Lanc I saw this week and I'm not crazy about any of them, either. Link to comment
