Great shot as is... Depending on what your focus is, other things could have been done. Alone it's an excellent portait of the fellow, so i might get a more shallow DOF. Anyway, still an excellent photo, with an intriguing

story.

i have to agree...my eyes dart between your subject and the animals...regardless, this is a very effective photo...even though this is not a headshot and the subject is virtually covered in cloth, his personality shines (he looks like he has a good sense of humor!)...really holds my interest - which i think is the most important thing a photo can do. No doubt, his is an outstanding photo with a lasting impact. However I prefer the colour submission. What I feel distracting here is the yellowish shadow below the man. Karl

Fantastic capture, the character the clothes and the environment. As a suggestion you may be able to draw more attention to the shepard by adding a little vignetting. Regards Peter Emmett

I prefer this one to any of your other versions. The old feel of monochromatic seems to go well with the old feel of the subject. What a perfect meeting!

A wonderful portrait. I like your grading as well. The frame tells the story about the guy and the harsh environment. Even the look of his jacket, as it comes down over his body and how the bottom of it is worn out..all adds up

I'm not sure if the walking stick coming out of his head is in the right position to be recognized in the intentioned fashion, but it does not bother me to much either.

Also the DOF, personally i agree with your choice. i would not blur the background. It completes the story perfectly and a small DOF would put a "romantic" feel to a picture, when there is in fact just awfully hard work.

the guy overall still looks relaxed and friendly, i like that as well.. the image has despite all a positive human feel to it.

A minor disturbance is how the shadow fades in to the white snow underneath his clothes. maybe just my screen, but it does look a bit unnatural.

Over all one of the better shots i have seen for a while.

Your kind comments are Valuable for me. You say about shadows, May be the burn tool usage was little harsh. I will try to improve this image next time. I am improving my skill with the help of my friends. Thanks again my friend.

And we think our life is falling apart when we lose our cell phones. Excellent piece of photojournalism depicting life in another place.
