Beautiful photo with good light and special kind of color.

(Thanks for your comment, no, i dont breed ladybugs; we can find them a lot here, and it is indeed a 7 spotted one.)

Ohhhhhhhhh, this works so very well for me. The dark triangles in the top left and bottom right balance the dark/light or busy/quiet areas of the photo beautifully! The light is perfect and the message is oh so wonderful!!!!

I thought about converting to black and white for this to make a stronger statement, but I do not think so, after all. I need the bit of color to set off the dark areas. This has such marvelous atmosphere.

When I first looked at this I saw a bit of a greenish tinge to the photo, but I do not really see it now, although, I still might try to add a bit more warmth/red/magenta to this... just a wee tad. The colors seem just a bit cold.

Oh, I might burn the child's ear. Or darken it completely. I like that dark area and her ear seems out of place. At least, the light area interrupts the diagonal line of the darker stuff on the left side.

BUT, overall, as you like to say: 7/6

Thanks for commenting Maggie,

the reason for some of the green is that the shirt is a yellow green. The smaller the size of view, the more it seems to have a touch too much of green. I'd better check to make sure that I converted to sRGB before download (I frequently forget to do that last step).

I will clone the ear before printing to see how it looks. Right now, there is a balance between mother & daughter.

I really liked your caterpillar photo, you should post it.

Thanks for the explanations. In looking at it again perhaps the ear should stay to balance with the mother's ear, as you say.( I hear ya!) :)

I am not sure why I don't load some of my better shots to PN. I am disenchanted with the quality of critiques I am finding. I don't want to load stuff I like here only to have it beat up by some twit... yada yada. And then, out of the blue, I find some very good work that I never saw before. My thoughts about the place keep changing. Also, I think I am at some kind of plateau or block in my photography right now. To get misinformation on this site as to whether a photo is good or bad, only confuses me further. Like my last upload. Its just a dog.. sure its a cute dog with good light, but other than that ... its a dog! :) So, I think what I am searching for is what I want in my photography, or if I am just going to be content with snapshots. I don't know if I am capable of stretching my abilities like you have done on this photo. I don't think I am, actually. I have so far to go, I think. So much to learn about the digital darkroom, too. I am more or less content with documenting my garden and with my snaps from our trips. I am not competitive in this hobby. I do like to learn more though, to improve my snaps. As you can see by my rambling on and on .. I am just not sure of where I am going with it all.
