Mark, I think that the HDR is not adapted for all the images, though yes it is for a photo as this one, since it heightens the metallic effect of the machine obtaining a color very adapted to the scene. Regards.

Very eloquent image that, as Manuel states, takes advantage of a technology that was not available before. But, as he also said, dry technology outside the hands of an artist is just that: dry technology. What makes this image work is that HDR allowed you to bring out the essence of the metal and the earth it makes its living attacking, so that they are both wed in eternal embrace.
