jgalyon 0 Posted May 26, 2007 The first words that came to mind were..."way cool!". Not a very cerebral comment i suppose... Really enjoy the brilliant blue against the muted tones of the grass. Never let it be said you don't have an eye for the photograph that most of us might overlook. Link to comment
alight 0 Posted May 27, 2007 good vision. I like the concept, the framing, the colours. IMV8O the picture from the steering wheel down is great - that part I'd give 7 for the looks; it really looks like it's plowing through the field. However, above the steering wheel it's a different story - the front is clear of the grass, out in the open, so it doesn't support the story of plowing through; also, the bright white part on the front below the steering wheel is not to my taste - it looks kinda out of place there and the brightness attracts the eyes. bosshogg 4 Posted May 27, 2007 John, thanks for the comments. Much appreciated. Micheal, I will agree with you on the white area. It is a distraction. It is really yellow, but I muffed it up in doing some hue and saturation and levels work, and did not make the effort to go back and try harder. Aesthetically, the image might be better with the weeds surrounding more of the front, but the title of "plowing through" was not meant to be literal (my fualt). What I was striving for was the lost childhood represented by the abandoned tractor. A sense of dreaming about what our childhoods were like and how they are gone forever when they go. It was supposed to be dreamy, blurry and ambiguous like our own memories often are. I think I should have used a title more in line with that concept. Maybe I will change it. I'm thinking something like, "The Memories of Childhood." What say ye, Mr. V8? Link to comment
alight 0 Posted May 28, 2007 thanks for the explanation. That does make a difference. When I look at a photo, I'm looking at it as a story which includes the caption; especially your photos, which is great, inlightful. My V8 taste would resonate to a caption borrowed from your Pepsi photo - "Where have all the childhood gone?" "Memories of Childhood" is great, but it could also be interpreted as you childhood being crappy, a bad experience. That's what Mr. V8 thinks. Cheers, Micheal Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted May 28, 2007 Thanks for your V8 opinion. I'm not sure that it would be bad if some interpreted the childhood memories as crappy. After all, some childhoods were and are crappy. I still see this as upbeat and dreamlike, but it has the inevitable sadness of time passing on. The bell tolls for us all amigo. Link to comment
alight 0 Posted May 28, 2007 the diffence, at least for the two of us, is that a V8 river will carry us into a paradise in the afterlife. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted May 28, 2007 Carry YOU, my friend. As you know, I do not expect to extend my show beyond its current run. V8 or no. Link to comment
