Nice, sharp appearing and contrasty B+W. But the processing and burning of the sky and lower left corner detract from the image. The tonal values don't balance, in fact, in several parts of the image. These excessive effects don't aid this image.

Beautiful portrait of this man and his world. I love seeing people within their surroundings. The light and shadow is intriguing to me, and I love his hand on his staff. The valley fanning out behind him gives me an idea of his world.

Have you tried adding say 10 % yellow and red tonings, to bring more of an old look to the shot ??? More balance in tones that way may be ... Just a thought ...

Some cropping from the right may slightly improve composition.

I somehow think the image is manipulated as the light comes from left, but the sun is going down behind the man. cheers Jana
