I know that colours may look unreal to you, but believe me, it is

true nature. I couldn't even believe myself. Let me write something

about the story behind this shot. First of all, my plan was to be at

the mountain top before the sunrise. As it actually rises around 6am

(after a night spent in my car) I had to set off about 5am. With a

backpack weighting almost 20kg it is quite an effortful climb. On a

way to the top it was very calm and quiet, virtually cloudless sky

and gentle breeze blowing from the west. After I had reached the top

the weather changed completely. The wind was nothing but enormous

and it was trying to blow my head off. It was blowing so strong,

that with a blink of an eye I lost one lens (it dropped out of my

backpack and crashed on the rocks). Just before the sunrise some

rainy clouds came out of nowhere, covering the whole view. I thought

it had been over, but suddenly it cleared out for a little while and

some beautiful light illuminated the mountain slopes. After another

2-3 minutes the light had gone and the rain started, limiting

visibility to just few metres. Feel free to express your

comments/critiques.

The colors aren't over the top. The light refelcted on the hillside is glorious. This could also work as two separate photos. One comprised of the left half, ending just right of the obelisk (where the pathway/fence points). The other, a more geometric composition of the right half.

Cheers,

Aaron

Sorry for your lens (I really feel the pain), but it was all worth it, this is a spectacular capture.

Hi Piotr

I know this place so very well I return to it often and climb it in darkness to reach the summit for dawn. you are quite right the light on the west coast of Scotland with these amazing storm fronts is outrageous and your picture certainly shows the ominous orange stained clouds about to envelop.

Piotr - having seen exactly this kind of light in this area, I can believe it's real, and I think you've captured it beautifully. It's not something you can control, but it would have been great if the light on the 'grass' was bright along the edge where the 'grass' meets the rock on the right of the picture as this would have provided dramatic contrast. In terms of how to improve this shot, I can only think that different perspectives may help, ideally with some water in the foreground to reflect the incredible light. Great shot.
