This EXTREMELY bad pun (some of you may find appropriate in the

circumstances) is of course a "Master and Commander" reference (I can

really sympathize with the Doctor character, by the way - I would get

totally pissed if I had to suddenly leave some biodiversity paradise I

just started to explore).

Liparus is one of the largest European weevils, while Pissodes falls

in the "leser weevils" (d'oh!) category...

No weevils were hurt during this session!

I love the image and the really bad pun! The "braids" hanging from his mandible(?)or snout (?) look like a warrior's braids! An amazing macro as usual. "Larger" is really amazing!

Amazing work Igor! Perfect detail and light. My first guess at a title based on the thumbnail might have been "Hi Mom!" but I guess that doesn't apply.

Igor, love the pun. Now as far as the photo; for one who has an extreme aversion to bugs of any type, I could not take my eyes off of these two. It's beautiful, yes you heard me say a bug is beautiful, but the crispness of this shot is wonderful. You can clearly see almost every detail of the big momma bug and also quite a bit of the little guy. This shot is terrific.

The image is undeniably good. Great DOF, detail. light, and subjects. What I love is the "Lesser of two weevils" crack. I know a lot of people don't even know what weevils are, but when I saw that I nearly fell out of my chair.

Thanks for that dude! :D

As a fan of both arthropods and "Master and Commander", I indeed appreciated the joke. Well done. Though, I must say I'm surprised no one got eaten...

Superb placement of the plane of focus and and excellent "posing" as well.

What a tremendous job. Aside from the great technical aspects of lighting and wonderfuly chosen background. The image is very creative indeed. Outstanding job.

What lens did you use?

Regards

Alex
