regis 0 Posted May 23, 2007 Honestly Shawn it's not good :( I don't need to be told it's HDR because it's too obvious to see that - and that's the main problem about it. It looks too much artificial - just check out that strange colours in the water. I understand it's nearly impossible to use any filters in this scene with no harm to she shot, and the HDR technique is the right way to proper exposure, but the whole trick about toning is to do it as much subtle as possible. I guesss you've been using Photomatix here and I know it's not easy to get the natural-looking result. You may try to use Tone Compressor rather than Detail Enhancer - it's more gentle and can give you some more natural look. Regards, Piotr. Link to comment
swillden 0 Posted May 23, 2007 Hi, Piotr. I have some other tonemappings of this same image that are realistic, but I quite liked the look of this one. Yes, it's over-the-top and artificial, especially with the heavily boosted saturation, but I like it. Thanks for looking, and for your comment, even if I disagree :) Link to comment
