dberryhill 3 Posted May 20, 2007 Tucker is 83. His father died when he was eight, and his mother ran the general store he stands in front of. It now houses his collection of, well, .. . stuff. He thinks it's time to start thinning out his collection. He has lived in this little community his entire life, and his home is two doors down from this old store. His sister lives in between. snakecharmer 0 Posted May 20, 2007 This is a delightful portrait. You have captured the man and his collection of "stuff" in their full glory. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted May 20, 2007 Very nice image with a friendly relaxed subject. It isn't necessary for enjoyment of the photo, but I sure do like the background information you give. Do you live in the same town? Have you known this gentleman for a long time? See how you provide a little information and I want to know more. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted May 22, 2007 I love this kind of portrait, where you place the person in their environment in order to allow the photo to tell a story. It is very real, very natural, very much alive. This is a very expressive photo and you've done a great job on it. I think it might be improved if the sunny part were made a bit deeper, because there is a bit of contrast being lost. And also, the upper left-hand corner might have a little detail that could be dodged back in, giving that area a little more depth and interest. Link to comment
dberryhill 3 Posted May 22, 2007 My thanks to all of you. Dave, I just met him that morning when he walked up as I was taking a picture of the store. His look was immediately friendly and we chatted and he showed me around for about 30 minutes before I asked to take his picture. Fred, your suggestions are absolutely right. I find that I have a tough time with hard light and strong shadow situations like this. I'd like to blame it on my digital camera, but I strongly suspect some operator ignorance. I'm grateful for your time and advice. Link to comment
