rogerleekam 0 Posted May 18, 2007 Kenrick, excellent portraits and character study, reflecting the moods of the different generations. The mother smiles lovingly at her son, the grandmother thinks of times past. Great light. Have you tried this in monochrome? Link to comment

ancadiana 0 Posted May 18, 2007 I am not allowed to rate your portrait:( But I am allowed to say my opinion. It is a lovely portrait, and I don't think that aesthetic or originality should be rated here. This is true love between generations and especially a deep feeling from a mother to her girl who is also a mother now. What a nice family you have. I can't wait for mother's day here, too.Thanx for sharing this with us! Link to comment
kenrick 0 Posted May 18, 2007 Thank you my dear sister Anca, my friends Daniel and Claudio. My Grandmother is 85 years old and owned and operated a small grocery store for most of her life. She has been as strong as a rock for all eleven of her children of whom 2 are now deceased, all of her grandchildren and many of the less fortunate people in her district. I have seen my mother become that same rock on many occasions standing in the gap to protect her children and grandchildren, fighting every battle with compassion and love. They are two women that I as a man hope to one day have even half the strength that they each possess. Sorry guys but there is a level of faith and strength that only women have. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted May 18, 2007 Exactly what a portrait should be. Real and expressive. There is love, honesty, and a genuine and simple beauty here. I like it in color, although I understand the point about trying black and white. I think black and white could make it look more refined and even more important, more classic. But this kind of color is so basic and simple that, for me, in a more subtle way, it works much better with the subject and the overall expression. I think it is very real this way, as you've shot it. Black and white might make it more noticeable but somehow less genuine. --Fred Link to comment

bleedingashes 0 Posted June 1, 2007 How expressive and candid image, both pearls of wisdom on different stages, beautiful capture of skin colors and expression. You are very lucky. Excellent image. One can see the mothers eyes reflecting the love for the photographer, therefore the smile I assume. Very joyful natural and honest record of life. My respects also for your perception of strong women and their inner gifts, both intellectual and spiritual. Link to comment

jcvpictures 0 Posted September 22, 2007 I agree with you, women are very strong and I am serious about it. I know what working in a grocery store means and it is very hard work, besides you have to deal with some silly clients that believe that they are always right. Great portrait and great job the one you have done here my friend. God bless them very richly. jc Link to comment
