marcadamus 1 Posted May 17, 2007 Lush rainforest foliage and beautiful light surround Oregon's Fairy Falls. Link to comment
jcvpictures 0 Posted May 17, 2007 A stunning image, very beautiful greens, and composition, jc Link to comment
3zs 0 Posted May 17, 2007 I love slow water shots like this. Thi sis a great shot. Great greens and the cascading water effect is beautiful. I only wish the sun wasnt at the top of the frame...Im more drawn to that then the water itself. Link to comment
erikbetti 0 Posted May 17, 2007 Long exposure water shots are a huge favorite of mine - this one is a great example. I might've framed it vertically though, as the amount of foliage detracts a little from the majesty of the waterfall. Link to comment
kellyphillips 0 Posted May 17, 2007 Marc, I'm looking at this trying to find some clue as to how you did it. How did you get the exposure so perfect with no ND filter? This is amazing. Link to comment
nicolerenee 0 Posted May 18, 2007 It certainly is magical, isnt it? The vegitation is so LUSH. The only teensy thing I would change is the white flower on the right. It is a little distracting but that still doesnt change the fact that this is a stellar shot. remaining a fan... Link to comment
stp 6 Posted May 18, 2007 I prefer this landscape mode rather than portrait because it puts the falls in context with the surroundings, and the surroundings are beautiful in their own right. I'm always impressed by the marriage of Marc's photographic skills with his computer skills; it produces consistently outstanding images. Link to comment
morteza.safataj 0 Posted May 18, 2007 Exposure and colors were controlled as well.Sorry Marc, how do you deal with the subjects' movement when you use long exposure? Good luck Link to comment
Fishermang 0 Posted May 18, 2007 Good one! Neat exposure, very good detail in the flow. And I like the little bloom that communicates with the sun throughout the photo very much - makes this a little more than just a waterfall photo. Very good! Link to comment
anish 0 Posted May 18, 2007 marc, the foliage seems to be glowing, and it's beautiful. the light definitely looks natural, but aside from selective dodge/burn, are there any PS tricks you use to help bring out that glow? anish Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted May 18, 2007 Nicely timed - not so much in regards to the waterfall, but rather the position of the sun. Link to comment
cdedward 0 Posted May 19, 2007 I really like the single white flower on the right side of the image. I wonder how the scene would have looked with a vertical composition instead. Very nicely done in all regards. Link to comment
snapshot1 0 Posted May 23, 2007 Classic dreamy beauty to this w/ star filter peak. But no real mystery or stand out feature. Good "screen saver" shot but not your usual excellence. Perhaps one should see this really large to appreciate detail? Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted May 23, 2007 Karen, the 'star' is related to the small aperature used, not a filter. I agree it's a bit more strait-forward and perhaps less dynamic than some of my work. Link to comment
will king 0 Posted May 24, 2007 Actually, I think this is right up there with any of Marc's previous efforts. Long exposure waterfall shots have been done before, but not quite this well. The sunburst kissing the peak of the falls is just an added bonus that really tells us how patient Marc is. We should all learn from Marc's ability to capture scenes at just the perfect moment, the right place, the right conditions. Landscape photography is not just knowing the camera. It's also knowing the land, the weather, and the elements. Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted May 26, 2007 Don't kid yourself... This is as good as it gets... You must have been in the f/22 range on this.... Link to comment
snapshot1 0 Posted May 28, 2007 Perhaps I saw this as a filter job because the majority of light of the foliage comes from strait above. A really great reflective sky may have done this but not to this extent. Do tell. Link to comment
enunez 0 Posted June 8, 2007 Karen, This is almost straight work from camera with white balance, and minor touches. I was in this same spot, the foliage seems to glow from the illumination, but it is not receiving straight sunlight. Link to comment
vincentfavre 2 Posted July 10, 2007 But how did you do to have the sun in front of you without no flare ? Are you a magician in this magic forest in front of these fairy falls ? ^^ Vincent Link to comment
ricklundh 0 Posted July 20, 2007 http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=6209427 Interesting...he has this comp. Marc, you continue to inspire others to follow you. I've never seen a sunstar effect above these falls until you did it... Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted July 21, 2007 Indeed. I prefer Marc's dead neutral water and warmer greens. Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted July 22, 2007 Rick, Edward did a private workshop with me to these falls and other places this spring. He asked about how I created my image and wanted to try it himself. Not an easy shot to get though! Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted July 22, 2007 It looks like Edward has picked up a thing or two from you. He's posted some really nice stuff recently! Link to comment
