The Government of Trinidad and Tobago (2 very miniscule islands) is

going to clear hundreds of acres of land to build an aluminium smelter

plant. They've already cleared thousands of acres of land to build low

income housing with very poor infrasturcture and drainage for their

supporters. It is part of their 2020 vision. I would really like to

hear your comments.

To keep the beautiful nature or to make living place (with poor infrastructure) for the poor is a hard choice. It won't be a choice if the place they are building have the proper facilities. Then I think nature needs to give way for development. This is a touching photo, though, his eyes most expressive.

The unfortunate and questionable thing Cherlyn is how many of the needy actually gain access to these homes. It is usually done to populate marginal areas with their own supporters so that they can win those constituencies and stay in power. Thanks Mr. 3/3 I will continue to try to improve. I hope you read the comment though because people's lives especially that of children all over the world are affected by the decisions that others make.

Beautiful portrait and yet also haunting. De-forestation in the name of "progress" is always a sad thing.

I also don't understand why people destroy the perfect creation God has made.. No human will ever be able to improove something God created already. But it doesn't surprise me..It is written that only bad things will come in the end. So..we have to expect for the worse..I am sorry though for what's happening on your island.. and of course I can't forget to mention about this lovely picture. Well..I guess you'll have to take advantage of the beauty there while it stil exists.

Thanks Sis. God has indeed created everything, even the images that we capture in photographs. The sad thing is that we sometimes alter these images in a way that can have negative effects.

First, beautiful image, then, I must tell you that there must be other solutions than destroy the places where many other low income creatures many of them the lasts of their kind are trying to continue fulfilling the creator's vision. Too many humans too few animals and plants , we as humans need the animals and plants the most.If you have any list of actions one can take, please let me know. This image is piercing and revealing, a work of the art of the heart. If anything the harmony you have shown will leave in the minds and spirits of those like me, who will protect the rest of the land. My respects to you as an artist and a man. To anyone who says that nature has to give way to development, that is what is too destroying us and giving us many maladies, that we do not understand how to live with nature as our ancestors did. Once those choices did not have to be taken. May be rich people can give their land up or help with urban and family planning rather than nature always have to pay for our excess....

Esther I am glad that you have taken a definite position on this matter. I appreciate tremendously your support and only today I found out that the government has plans to go ahead with a second aluminium smelter plant which will result in a massive area of forest being destroyed. Earlier this year they had advised that they would discontinue this project but it seems to be an election ploy. You're also right about the rich because the businesses that supported the government or are that are now owned by members of the government are buying up all the properties in the country. The rich are becoming richer and the middle class is becoming the poor class. It is sad because this country had so much potential and natural beauty once. I will send you some more info as to how you can get involved. Thanks Esther for your support.

the depth of light here is fantastic. i love the eyes and the natural expression in them. great reflection too. sad to lose wilderness when there are so many other viable alternatives. this shot has real emotional impact without the backstory. very well done. regards, J.K.

The expression you captured is obviously a labor of love Kenrick. This is one of those rare photos that is true to the adage - a picture worth a thousand words.
