The cathedral folder says: "Winchester has the largest

indoor 'carpet' of medieval tiles in England. They have recently been

conserved, with modern replicas filling the gaps." I didn't ask, but

I suspect the shiny tiles you see here are the replicas, with the

authentic ones in the foreground. Anyway, I quite liked the

juxtaposition. Comments welcome, please view the larger version as

Theo, are you sure that they haven't made the reproductions look older than the original ones?

After some absence I have been browsing once again through your achievements. Very frequently I find your paintings moving. What a magnificent lighting, composition and scope. I admire the many ways you have photographed the arches of abbeys and cathedrals from ever so many angles. Keep travelling so that we can enjoy the beauty of the world as yo see it.
