tmjacobs 0 Posted May 13, 2007 The cathedral folder says: "Winchester has the largest indoor 'carpet' of medieval tiles in England. They have recently been conserved, with modern replicas filling the gaps." I didn't ask, but I suspect the shiny tiles you see here are the replicas, with the authentic ones in the foreground. Anyway, I quite liked the juxtaposition. Comments welcome, please view the larger version as that shows more detail, thanks for watching. Link to comment
theodeby 0 Posted August 4, 2008 Theo, are you sure that they haven't made the reproductions look older than the original ones? After some absence I have been browsing once again through your achievements. Very frequently I find your paintings moving. What a magnificent lighting, composition and scope. I admire the many ways you have photographed the arches of abbeys and cathedrals from ever so many angles. Keep travelling so that we can enjoy the beauty of the world as yo see it.
