Yes, Erik, the content becomes the composition and vice versa. I also like the detail of textures and there are layers here, which give the photo depth. The roundness of the dome nicely offsets all of the angles. Your focusing helps create a sense that we move through the bars into the courtyard. The blue is real and natural and I think the cloudless sky works well here because of the type of composition you've established.
