I really love the details and smoothness of tones in this 9x12cm sheetfilm shot. To me this is exactly why people take the path to yetlarger and larger film sizes. And I'm still at the beginning (with9x12cm/4x5")...

Very sharp and beautiful details. My father uses film also and is wanting a 4x5. He has a 6x7 right now. The processing cost is holding him back. Do you notice a big difference in sharpness between a 4x5 and a top of the line Digital SLR?

Michelle, thanks a lot.

I can't compare 4x5 and top of the line DSLR, I can only compare it to an old Konica-Minolta A200 (this is bad) and my brother-in-laws Canon 350D (better, but still worse than 4x5. He even considers it worse than his 6x9 Fuji rangefinder and also 6x7 Mamyia). The cost of 4x5 is not that high, on the contrary if you choose carefully. And if you shoot BW, I pay less than approx. 0.5USD per shot (film + self development) here in the Czech republic. If you want further info, don't hesitate to contact me offline through email. I'll be happy to answer.

Thanks Jiri! I think even if the quality is the same as digital (which it's probably not), it's still fun to see an image appear on paper after developing it with chemicals. It's a great feeling, like you have made something.
