I like my Sony A100 a lot. I do not believe that you can get a better camera for the price.

Image quality is very good at 100 up to 400 ASA. There is noticeable grainy appearance at 800 ASA. The only potential problem is the cost of lenses. The standard lens is OK but not great.

A $ 670SAL-100M28 - 100mm f/2.8 Macro Lens is excellent but a bit loud in auto-focus mode.. Low light lenses design for this camera like SAL-85F14Z - Carl Zeiss? Planar? T* 85mm f/1.4 Telephoto are expensive at $1300.

Discontinued Konica Minolta lenses are available at much lower price.
