Hi Michael, a strong scene in B/W, I think I would have liked the two colored items in B/W as well. very well composed!

Just came back from your beautiful country's islands.

Great image, very overwhelming atmosphere, great sampling of social actors. An image with more than one centre of interest. Would be great completely B/W also.

The environment looks like a theater scene ("world is a stage"-kind of feeling) and it also has a bit of "Dogville"(the mood, I mean), if you've seen the movie.

Best regards,

Cristina

Michael-- A great photo any way you slice it. The drama you've captured on stage is compelling. For me, all the supportive elements are beautifully and effectively in place. The person lying in the foreground that our eyes brush over on the way to the main subject, the bottle even further to the foreground setting up our visual field, the man hunched over the wheelchair, all very dynamic and suggestive punctuation. I, too, have a problem with the bits of color which I simply find distracting (although a minor and very subjective point). For me that adds a bit of gimmickry to a shot that doesn't need it because it's so expressive in its own right and makes me conscious of a photographer with software where I needn't be. The more important point, however, is that while all the supporting factors are brilliantly in place, the main subject of the woman in the center isn't working for me. I'm not able to read much expression on her and that would seem an important addition for me. Also, the lighting keeps drawing me away from her face and down to her skirt and I think a little work could help that immensely. As for her expression, it may be more clear and evident in the print and this could be a shortcoming of monitor viewing, but the right expression on her face makes this the total photograph it has the potential of being. It is very well conceived and quite evocative.
