I love the story implied here by two hands, one open and one a fist. This is a little one who will grow independent one day.

thank you very much, Barry. This picture stirs many feelings in me, the hands belong to my wife and my newborn baby when he was still in the Intensive Care Unit after some problems at birth. He is now healthy, and as far as indepencence is concerned, he's off with his grandparents for the weekend now! Marco.

ps: I just wished it had more contrast, but it was shot with a point'n'shoot in the hospital...

In that case the fist stands for determination, no? And it worked.

As to the contrast, I think it works just fine as it is. The sense of soft lighting is quite appropriate (and it works well in B&W; I think better than it would in color).
