The Sway

I took multiple shots of this to get movement in the rape. The wind was sporadic and often the effect was far to much, this represents what I wanted to achieve

Another very nice addition to a great portfolio! REally love the impressionistic look that the movement of the flowers has injected to this scene, it is certainly a welcome change from pictures that are sharp through and through (not that they have no merit, just that this is very original).

Wonderful shot! Nicely seen and beautifully rendered.

While I really like the composition and colors, I find it a bit disconnected that the foreground is so soft and blurry while the middle and background are as sharp as they are, perhaps more than they need to be. Just my 2p... your portfolio is fantastic although I can't quite figure out your signature. Does that say David Clapp; it looks more like "Jaulen". ;-)

David--I really like your idea here with the blur gradually fading into tack sharp. For me personally (read that as "the humble opinion of an inferior photographer"), I would probably prefer the foreground with a slight bit less blur. I really like the idea, but I personally would like a bit more foreground detail. However, I am can definitely see where many people would prefer the stark contrast from very blurry to very sharp. Your composition is excellent. Keep up the great work--I can't tell you how much I enjoy it!

Cheers Tyler, I am glad you like it. I can see what you are saying about the excessive blur, I took multiples of this view and some have a lot less motion but this in particular grabbed my attention as it had a real swoosh of movement whereas the others were a little less involving.

Hi David, in response to Tyler's comment, I actually think the opposite and can visualize this image with the foreground movement look and feel extending throughout the whole image, giving an amazing artistic, painterly look that juding by the complimentary colours and overall composition would in my opinion work very well. That being said i'm not a fan of turning photos into art or anything, it just seemed right in my mind that this particular image would look great that way.

Overall a nice composition and display of complimentary colour with a distinct artistic feel from the movement in the foreground, I like it.

Cheers John, I now own a 6 and a 10stop ND, this was photographed with a three stop so in the future I will have the option to try all sorts of shutter speeds.

I don't own any ND filters, but I do use the Lee filter system and the grads are so long, they allow me to use them as ND filters by simply pushing them all the way down the filter holder. This has worked fine for me. But I do want a 6 & 10 stop ND filter. The Lee ND pro is very expensive but promises more punchy colours for digital cameras due to the AA filter and compensated, worth checking out.
