johncrosley 0 Posted May 2, 2007 This is a candid portrait of a lone girl in one fashionable neighborhood of Buenos Aires, not so long ago -- she had no idea her photo was taken. Your ratings and critiques are invited and most welcome. If you rate harshly or very critically, please submit a helpful and constructive comment; please share your superior photographic knowledge to help improve my photography (Faces Folder). Thanks! johncrosley 0 Posted May 2, 2007 This girl was at play and full of life, while I sat at a sidewalk cafe in Buenos Aires. I thought her 'look' and 'liveliness' was something that was something she projected and hoped I could capture it with my camera. I'm interested in how successful I was (I know you cannot see her in person, but does she appear to be 'alive' and 'lively' in this photo, and very 'attractive' as that term is used for beautiful young children (within appropriate bounds of course). Someone criticized me once for having a 'faces' folder with so many 'old' people in it; Westerner parents so often object to their children being photographed by a male, particularly an older male, candidly fearing the worst from the headlines (those are legitimate fears), but they cannot tell the legitimate (me) from the very odd, very rare, sicko, who's out there, so I have to be very careful pointing my lens at children, particularly attractive young girls, lest someone get the wrong idea. This 'problem' of photographing, particularly in the United States, is shared by most professional male photographers above a certain age, and much lamented, for almost all are good-hearted and well-intentioned. (Those who take 'sick' photos, can be told by their photos, often and the quantity and placement of them -- they have a 'sick' need to collect and hide them and they show pretty awful things. Those sickos have screwed it up for us legitimate photographers who just want to make attractive and interesting photographs. (We're victims too.) This girl was chosen because she seemed to 'radiate' if one word would describe her look; how successful was I in capturing 'radiance'? John (Crosley) Link to comment
johncrosley 0 Posted May 2, 2007 I'll put you down as one of those who thinks I did capture her 'radiance'. Thanks for the comment. John (Crosley) (our posts crossed) Link to comment
