k5083 1 Posted May 3, 2007 Nice shot Dan, but as has been noted before, you really have a problem with brightness settings on your monitor or something. Here, the blown-out highlights on the right are rendered quite a bit darker than white. I suggest paying close attention to the histogram in your photo editor; it can be very valuable when your monitor is trying to play tricks on you. Link to comment
dangoldman 0 Posted May 3, 2007 I may go nuts here with these contrasty shots... A big problem with a lot of my bird pictures. I'll re work this image and brighten it up tonight and see how it looks (on my monitor, it seemed like a good balance...). Thanks a lot for your critiques August. Link to comment
k5083 1 Posted May 3, 2007 That's an odd original, because the burned out areas have been smushed down to a light grey. The attached version has some basic color correction done to bring up the highlights and also take out a little of the violet cast. Link to comment
dangoldman 0 Posted May 3, 2007 I meant original as in what i originally had posted, not straight out of the scanner. I personally dont like to see too much of a burn spot, so i used curves to bring it down some in the new version. I also brough up midtones and a little bit of shadows. It looks pretty white on my monitor though. Link to comment
