Admire this image as unusual, wonderful and interesting because of its surreal graphic appearance, kind, romantic fill and fine technique. Emotionaly strong yet gentle make time intercepted in lasting moment but the title IMO announces more then the image can beare.. or can it? The imaging of this sort one might expect to work actually. Regards. Ilia.

Ilia, I think I understand your comment. For me this photo has a strange mix of fun and serenity. It is the place where Louis Lachenal, the conqueror of Annapurna died. We were in a hilarious mood when we shot this photo. But it reminds me also of many friends who did not come back from the mountains. Sometimes their shadows get out of the cold graves and appear to me in a dream. Karl

The art of photography .... Claire-Obscure .. Chiaroscuro either way this is well seen. I think the comment you have made about the photograph is quite moving and you have explained this photo in a way I will not forget. A unique and memorable photo my friend. Cheers, Gerhardt

I like your emotions behind this photograph, the shadows of your friends that you lost in mountains who still comes in your dreams. Interesting and a very dramatic shot.

Karl; This image appeals to me on many levels. It is a first class creation, drawing not only my eyes, but also my thoughts to this place. Congratulations, Bert.

Fascinating, surreal shot. The cold, monochrome lighting adds to the nightmare-like atmosphere. Thanks for posting and for the story behind the shot !

Joe Simpson wrote "Dark shadows falling" and "This game of ghosts"... both of them quite sobering.

You've instead put together dark shadows and ghosts and made it into a great image. What I like the most is that the shadow against the crevasse is straight, while the others against the flatter surface are most bent, a white hole rather than a black hole?

I'll try to come to the "Das andere Pakistan".

This is one of the most amazing photos I have seen so far on photo.net. It looks like it could be a cave drawing and at the same time it could be a photo of tourists visiting the moon in the future. It is very simple, yet it has a strong range. Great work.
