The Road Less Traveled (Garden of the Gods park, Colorado Springs, CO)

I have a little bit of extra time this evening. I thought I'd upload a shot that represents a little bit of what's going on in my life right now. Of course, I've got Colorado on my mind. :-) But the idea of taking a new path ... possibly a less traveled path ... these are things I'm contemplating as well. Comments? (I mean comments on the life decisions or on the photograph ... both are welcome of course!)

In 1929 my mother and her best friend, both at the age of 19, took off from Joplin, MO to see the West. They walked or accepted rides from ONLY families and the stayed nights at the YWCA or camped out. They made it as far west as Garden of the Gods where they camped. My mother is now 97 years old and she doesn't remember much about this trip now, but in years past it was told often. I stayed with friends in Colorado Springs in 1975 and spent some time here and doing other walks up Pike's Peak.

What I find of most interest in your image is the path with the shadows on it, I love shadows and I always see them standing out. Thank you for bringing back these memories with your lovely blue skies and the long path.

Thanks, Shawn! My hike was first thing in the morning that day. The shadows/bright sunshine ruined some potential good shots ... but I'll certainly get back there some day soon to do more shooting. :-) I'd love to hear your version of your mom's story some day.
