Guest Guest Posted April 30, 2007 I really love the composition and the feel of this. Even the softness of the highlights in the background works beautifully. The lighting seems to emanate from within. It's a very nice conception. I think on such a photo, the highlights may have gone a bit too far. For this kind of elegance, I see them toned down a bit, maintaining the texture and detail. Link to comment
janisok 0 Posted April 30, 2007 Thanks so much for commenting on this shot Fred. I just fell in love with it. I was behind a post, which was blocking the sun, which explains the backlighting. The low ratings kill me, but the comments are really all it's about....right!? Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 30, 2007 Janis, just my opinion, but from what I've seen of ratings on PN, sometimes you're better off getting low ones. Anything kind of different, a little offbeat, or not handled in the typical manner seems not to do well. I tend to think actual creativity rarely gets noticed here as people push the ratings buttons before they've given the photo barely a quick glance. Link to comment
janisok 0 Posted April 30, 2007 Thanks Fred.....check on me now and again, because I will surely be posting some "creative" shots!!! Thanks again! Link to comment

jan_piller 0 Posted May 4, 2007 I absolutely love this shot!! I have taken a couple similar ones myself in the past. I happen to like the "overblown" highlights - and I put that in quotation marks as I think people sometimes forget how bright that darn sun can be. Of course some things will get "blown out". It's like telling YoYo Ma he plays too sweetly. I say, let the sun do what the sun will do! It is kissing wonderful life into these little blades and you have captured a very special tiny moment in time! I know this is not a "proper" critique. Just wanted to let you know I really like it and I really like the light! Link to comment
