patrickjacobson 0 Posted April 27, 2007 The warm golden light are from the setting sun. Couldnt get the "golden" rock more sharp since the water is passing over it aswell giving it a "smooth" texture. Comments are more welcome then rates (since the rating system here is like lottery). kezia 0 Posted April 27, 2007 I really enjoyed looking at your portfolio, which is excellent. I'm impressed by how many good photos you have in many different categories (not such an easy thing) and you obviously enjoy experimenting and have good control of the technical stuff. I suspect that you have significantly more experience than me so I emphasise that the following are just my personal thoughts on photos with 'milky' water. I feel that this effect should only be used to really enhance by giving a background to and complementing the 'in focus' elements of the picture. It therefore needs to be very well controlled, and requires an incredible amount of practice and experimentation with different levels of blurring to be done really well. Here I think you have already been your own best critic - I agree with you that the blurry water somehow overwhelms the beauty of the rocks rather than enhancing them, so while I think it's a good photo I think that with more experimentation you will find yourself taking better ones using this technique. PS I agree with you about rating vs critiques. Link to comment
patrickjacobson 0 Posted April 27, 2007 Thank you Kezia. Im happy that you took your time. I like the effect in the water due to the texture effect it gives (im a sucker to textures). Im far from an expert with these shots though since ive probebly just made a few 100 shot using this "effect" and need alot more practice. The texture in the rock are abit wasted in this shot.. i guess i loved the light so much that i uploaded it, cant say im 100% happy with it. I have a slight problem working with tripods aswell.. feels like its stopping me from getting the angle/composition i want (as it takes abit time to find the spot for the tripod). Something i need to train with aswell. I will continue to work with these shots! Big thanks again for your comment. Best regards, Patrick Link to comment
