Moonlight Fantasy Three (This is my third rendition of this rather complicated piece of photographic art. I think it's finished now.)

atlatling

Made with a vertical pan consisting of four shots with a hand held camera beginning at my feet and going up the rocky face near the mountains summit were stitched. It was broad daylight being about 8:30 a.m. with clearing skys after a brief overnight light rain. A dubbed in black sky onto which I brought a gibbus moon's image altering its color. Rocks were altered in color and shadow darkness was enhanced to simulate moon light. I added a few stars of different colors to round out the image. (earlier attempts had a less perfect sky and a non-realistic moon.) It was a fun project and a large - 16X37 inch print looks great to me and has brought many positive comments from viewers outside FotoNet.

I don't make many images for critique or rating, but thought this

one might stir up some comments. Tell me what I did wrong (or

right). Many thanks for looking at it.

Well I have to say this is a very interesting shot...had I not read the details I wouldn't have guessed it was shot in the morning. Kudos for that. The composition, the tones and the simulated night are very well done. The only problem I have with the shot is the sky: the stars look too fake...and the moon could use a little toning down to blend better. I am saying this, but my PS skills are almost non-existent...so it should be taken with a grain of salt :-). So overall I think it's a very nice shot, and if you fix the sky it could only be better...cheers. Younes (no rating).

looks super-realistic to me! nice technical execution, especially the funneling of light across the stones. i might tone down the brightness of the moon just slightly. congrats!

I like thi alot Bill, great eyeflow from the darkened corners. It really keeps your attention, looking otherworldy.

Well done, dude... I would leave the moon alone but add a yellow tint to the foreground to pick up the moons tint... my two cents.

This is a very well done comp. and personally, I would not change a thing. Looking at some hubble digital enhancements of far off places, you are their with a bit of realism. Like me, you have way to much time on your hands. :) Michael
