Needless to say, I prefer the b&w version of this shot.

The photograph interests me greatly on several levels. On the primary non-techinical level, the dog looks to be what's usually referred to as a Pit Bull, or a Pit Bull mix. So my first comment to you is bravo for showing the gentle side of these wonderful dogs...dogs which have received such bad publicity in the past, and particularly in light of recent news stories.

The look away from the lens by the child and the dog gives a feeling of spontaniety to a shot that could have been just another kid-and-dog shot. And there is something about the dog's expression (I can't put my finger on it) that really makes this shot work for me. For me, there's a sweetness (for lack of a better word) there that you don't see a lot of in photograhs like this.

From a technical standpoint, I like the brightness of the photograph, and I like the light background which keeps my eyes concentrated on the subjects. I might wish for a bit more sharpness in the eyes of both subjects, but I also realize that there might have been just a bit of head/eye movement going on here when you clicked the shutter, so I can't really fault you on that.

I think it's a really nice shot.

How are you liking your Bees?

Thanks Jim,

Gus here is a full blooded Pit, and a wonderful dog. He is very gentle with lil Ryan and also very patient. It just shows what I believe, that it's the owner, not the dog itself that determines their demeanor. He would hop up on the table at command and patiently sit still while I tried to get Ryan to sit longer than a second.

I do wish it was abit sharper, esp around Ryans eyes. The full size image is somewhat better than this low resolution size.

Im really enjoying my Bees, Im buying another set to add some fill in soon. I dont know why I waited as long as I did now.
