Bianca, you post some of the most outstanding work on Photo.net (ever) in my personal opinion. My own view is that each photo that I have viewed is a story, and that you have turned it into an illustration (in photo mode), and possibly that each arises from personal biographical facts, which you do not and needn't share with us, as opposed to, say, historical facts, such as this illustration was inspired by Mr. X, of the Y clan in historical Firenze in the Renaissance. That's just my view, but a prior posting of yours suggested the same analysis might be proper.

Let me know if I'm right (if you feel like it; self revelation needn't be part of exposing work like this, any greater than just the exposure of the work itself, because it's pretty masterful).

Of course, if I were rating it, it would be 7/7, but I seldom rate outside certain genres, but any such rating from me you can take to the bank. Even Google.com once indexed my 'highest rated photos of others' folder because it got so many hits, I think.

Your work is masterful and most interesting -- Joycian in a way because it's full of mystery, yet artfully told and suggests biographical references (am I right -- again, you needn't tell me).

I just happened to see this come up on critique, which I seldom scan, but I'm delighted I did.

Best regards.

Dear John,

Thank you you very very much that you've taken the time to respond in such a joyful and large manner. It is always a delight to read your words, it has been a while so I drink them to the fullest, haha!

You're right about my work. The pictures that are more experimental are telling always my personal stories. They come really from my heart and soul and my experiences in life. I don't find it necessary to tell everyone what it is all about, because I hope that the viewer can make a story for themselves (maybe with te same ingredients though :-). Nevertheless they are all so personal and for me it's looking through a diary when I see them.

This picture is more about a man who is born again in life then from a historical point of view. Some people life they lifes without looking around the corner, staying on the same path for all those years..... So did this guy, now it's time to bring it a step further and leave all of the securities behind... It's difficult for me to write it in an other language, because it's a little more subtile then this, haha. I hope you can read between the lines :-).

Thank you again that you've stopped by John!

Warm greeting from Holland,

Bianca

a beautiful image that makes me think that a set of beliefs can be replaced by another, none of these beliefs or ways is wrong, each of them can be the right thing to do, equally ok, but you have to make a choice. Life is not perfect, it breaks, it heals, you get scars, finally it's a palimpsest and maybe just a monologue..but this is the beauty of it. Fragile wings can't get you high in the sky but at least you know you tried.

And finally, after you've given everything, after you appear naked, vulnerable, you remain unknown, your identity undiscovered (as I see the cropping you have very well chosen hides away the eyes)..and the message (the written message on the image), meant to be discovered, but which remained unrevealed, will be finally found and understood by someone, who knows ?

really beautiful and deep work ! (I don't have to write about the technical aspect because it's flawless and I love it)

John and Hekate have, most likely, said it better than I could. If someone asks the question about whether photography is art or simply craft I simply show them your work here on the site. Your work is brilliant, and I will leave it at that.

As far as telling a story is concerned it really does not matter to me, a piece of art stands alone.

I hope for the sake of all of us that you will continue to produce images like this one for a long time and share them with us.

I am really just always amazed by the uniqueness of your work (is that a word "uniqueness'??). Everything here is unusual, thought provoking: the model, the composition, the crop (I mean come on cutting the head in half?!?), the PP...the stitch on the side, the magnificent wings, half insect, half angel...yet somehow you just manage to pull it off and make a masterpiece! Your work is truly inspiring (not that I think I'll ever get there). Keep amazing us, you are truly an Artist! Thanks for sharing.
