A female German Shorthaired Pointer, exhibiting the breed's famous

intensity. Still working on the indoor lighting, so thanks for your

feedback.

Interesting use of light here ... I think the whole picture needs to be lightened a fraction so that you still have the contrasts but a little more detail shows.

I think it is a beautiful portrait and I think the lighting is perfect for demonstrating the intensity of the dog.

Perfect! Hmmm interesting that only chicks (easy, no disrespect intended) have commented on this image! German Shorthairs are usually guy dogs.

Great portrait, Matt. Your point of view from below, the dog's eyes up, where they so often are, on their master, waiting to see "what can I do next to please you?" Subtly conveys the loyalty and intelligence of the dog. Lighting and background are lovely, perfect. I wish more people would include the camera, lens, and technical details with their photos, as you have --- I always look there, hoping to learn, but you are one of the few who answers all my questions. Thank you. (PS - in acting, they warn against working with children or animals: you do amazing work with dogs!)

I see what Sarah meant about the lighting, but, to my taste, I like that it falls exactly where it does. The focus is on the dog's face and the intensity of his stare. A beautiful shot.

How did you light this, Matt? I really like it and would love to know the details in terms of flash placement and EXIF data. Man, I'm a nerd looking at that last sentence.

Great shot, really quite regal.

Just found this shot Matt - and like it very much. The eye and nose detail are wonderful, and the intense expression is so typical of shorthairs.

Best,

David
