mferencz8 0 Posted April 19, 2007 Cutest kid. The warm soft glow of the light on the sleeves and hat give this photo an almost magical quality. The selective color desaturation works well here too. Link to comment
sarah_newton 0 Posted April 19, 2007 Beautiful capture, lovely use of selective colour. Link to comment
jfrey43 0 Posted April 19, 2007 And of course, here we go with the anonymous 3/3 raters. I do wish there was some criteria for rating and that the anonymous portion was removed. Link to comment
thescriptkiddie 0 Posted April 19, 2007 Def a cute kid, that's for sure. Great how you softened it as well as doing the color enhancement. Really added to the shot. Link to comment
sirabalde 0 Posted April 20, 2007 Good idea and sweet child I wonder if it would have looked warmer if the black and white parts would be sepia... Compare with one of my childrens photos if you like... :-) Kind regards Christina Link to comment
jfrey43 0 Posted April 20, 2007 Please, kindly give me your honest ratings as well. Get me out and away from these terrible anonymous 3/3 ratings. If this photo is so bad it warrants a 3/3 I'd love to know why it is so bad what I could do to improve it. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 23, 2007 Very good work and beautiful model my friend! The 3/3 raters are just the dirt of PN!!! Best regards, Catalin Link to comment
photographybyjames 0 Posted April 27, 2007 First, let me say I like this picture. You can't go bad with pictures of kids. I like the colors and I too like the softness of the pink sweater. Second, I truely believe there are 3/3 stalkers on this website. Either that or the photo.net people have an automatic program that assigns 3/3 to all pictures no matter what. I found that people have differnt tastes on this site. I honestly believe that if you put down a rating than you have to leave a comment. No ifs, ands, or buts. I really thought this site would help my photography and for the most part it has (when I get an honest critique). I have actually redone a photo based on an honest critique even tho I had several good ratings and comments. I also believe that before you comment or rate that you should be forced to view the complete portfolio. Every one has their own style, so how can you objectively rate or comment by looking at one picture. Even Picasso turned out a bad painting once in awhile. But when you look at his complete work, WOW, you understand what he was trying to do. So all I can say Jeff is hang in there, disregard the 3/3 people on this site and keep taking good pictures (which, btw, you do well). Respectfully - James Link to comment
joanbn 0 Posted July 12, 2007 An adorable little girl. I like the way you did this with the addition of pinks. About those threes, just have to ignore. Sometimes I have a three before I can return to my photo. They certainly haven't taken time to really look at a photo and explain their rating. Link to comment
bodyline 0 Posted August 21, 2007 As stated above you can't go wrong with kids. This is a cute image indeed. I like the mix of colour and mono IMHO it works well here. I find the colour however to strong against the greys, this is highlighted by the exceesive gaussian blur against your selection edges creating that 3d look. I had a play with the shot, I decreased saturation on the hat, added diffuse glow to soften edges, then on another layer placed a light gaussian blur over the whole image, then selectively used the eraser to create a more natural looking DOF. finally I lightened the eyes. Hope that helps. Link to comment
