There is considerable visual tension packed into the frame; the streaks of light on the ground, the curve of the dog diagonally through the length of the photograph, and the lead and tail going in different directions amp up what's happening before us. The dog looking around the corner adds to the effect and creates a sense of anticipation. Very well done.
