Charles_Webster 226 Posted April 16, 2007 The only difference between men and boys is the size of their toys. This guy gets to play with real trains. If you give me a 3, please give me a comment also. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 17, 2007 I find that the composition provides a great background for this portrait, which is a natural and sincere view of the man. It is simple and real. Link to comment
Charles_Webster 226 Posted April 17, 2007 Thanks Fred, I don't often shoot people, but couldn't resist taking this man's picture. Link to comment
dave_dube 10 Posted April 22, 2007 Yes, it is a good portrait of the man but not the man and his machine so, in the latter area, it fails.I want to say that your exposure is great, no distractions from the compartment but, would that have created a better story?Technically sound Charles, I just want more out of your photo.Dave Link to comment
Charles_Webster 226 Posted April 22, 2007 Thanks Dave for your thoughtful comment. I agree about not capturing more of the machine, and this was cropped from such a photo. However there were elements in the larger frame that were serious detractions from the picture, so I cropped it to this. Maybe some selective burning and dodging can retrieve some more detail inside the cab. Link to comment
Charles_Webster 226 Posted May 29, 2007 Thanks for the suggestion Alex. I have often felt that my cropping is often not optimum, and my portfolio contains several examples. Thanks for your thoughtful comments Link to comment
