jayme 0 Posted April 16, 2007 Geez... I hate flies, but this one is so sharp & well placed in the frame, it almost makes it tolerable :) I hope he escaped the bird that eats flies :) Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted April 16, 2007 This is actually a bee and it's called a Metallic Green Bee. It was covered in pollen by the end of its roll around the flower. I had never seen one before - they are quite beautiful! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted April 17, 2007 There really is such an insect! They are gorgeous in the light. Comments? Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted April 18, 2007 Duh.... I must have been half asleep! Fly? Where did I come up with that? I was listening to the news & I heard that the bee population is way, way down. I think they feel it is due to cell phones. Another possibly viable excuse I can use for NOT using my cell phone :) Geez.... I just can't hop on the band wagon of the cell phone. That's why I have an answering machine at home. I don't mind having a cell phone for emergencies (like cricket infestations) I only turn it on for me to call out. My kids get so mad! I think I like being inaccessible :) It must be a control issue problem :) Anyway, nice BEE! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted April 18, 2007 I'm with you, Jayme - hardly ever use my cell phone, either. It's buried deep in my purse and I don't hear it ring anyway. Lots of times I'll see I have a message from 2 or 3 days before because I haven't even looked at my phone for that long. If it's any consolation, we have tons of bees in our yard (we have hackberry trees and you can hear the buzzing constantly!). We've also been seeing quite a few at the ranch. So if other places get low, I guess Texas can help with the supply. :) Link to comment
