mvisionphotography 1 Posted April 13, 2007 By son wants be an Architect and he is already looking at bridges and piers and studying them very closely. He is only 13 but has built bridges with his connects (a certain toy). I have to take pictures of them (buildings and bridges) so I sometimes do them MY way. Please enjoy one that I thought captured the movement of the waves and the clouds. This is my second time doing this picture as someone suggested doing it in B&W, the other one is in my portfolio in color. Link to comment
j.k._york 0 Posted April 13, 2007 it shouldn't work, but it does. the texture of the surf is in perfect contrast to the darker brooding pillars and concrete. good choice to go b/w here. i think the tunnel effect is more pronounced because this is off axis. good idea and well executed. regards, J.K. mvisionphotography 1 Posted April 13, 2007 I did this when I first started and I was just messing around because my son wanted to see all of these kinds of things. You know how all these are made and they look like they are ready to fall anyday now. This one held up good in the hurricanes and you can see where they fixed it. I just remember that old stupid exercise when I had to draw lines and horizons and things like this and I would get D's on papers becauase I would draw them like this and I would have to FIGHT to get my grade up because technically it was correct I just did it "Tilted". HA! Link to comment

bartimeus1 0 Posted April 13, 2007 At first the strong tilting annoyed, but after noticing the tunnel, it convinced very well. Like J.K. said, it works against all odds. Actually, the tunnel is like an endless hole to the deep... It is unbelievable how the light around the pier disappears and you get sucked into the railway to darkness. Great effect!!! Alfred Hitchcock`s Vertigo had the same kind of atmosphere, if I remember right. :-) A large parrot mark for the tunnel and equal to the image! Alpo Link to comment
torfinn 0 Posted April 13, 2007 Excellent work Micki! I have seen the light, and it could be useful for the neck sometimes. Great composition, contrast, and lightning. Best regards, Torfinn. Link to comment
joemoree 0 Posted April 13, 2007 I really like this, the simple tilting of the view really added so much to this shot. good job! Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted April 13, 2007 Gee Alpo I never even noticed the end of the tunnel and I worked on this silly thing for at least well long enough to eat my breakfast and talk on the phone to my friend for a while! I also got a pretty good kink in my neck doing so as you do tend to want to tilt your head. BUT... then you realize ti feels good not to. Thank you everyone for SEEING the light too! I really liked it and until someone said (in the first one that is color) try it in B&W I didn't even think to do it and this is what I VISUALIZED. Andrew took a picture of the same place (posted long ago) and turned it into a RED gross sea! BLAH! HA Link to comment
kellen1 0 Posted April 14, 2007 I really really like this, even the way it is tilted, this is an excellent black and white subject, captured very well! Abstract Composition in black and white, let's see more! Link to comment
jan_piller 0 Posted April 15, 2007 One of your best ! It was that tunnel that sucked me in right off the bat! I love the angle - precisely because it's disturbing to the equilibrium. And the blacks are black and the whites are white and every grey is a grey in it's own right! This is an excellent b/w! Link to comment
